The Kid

I had such a good time working on this little video spot. This was truly a “soup to nuts” video for me, as I was excited to come up with the concept, draw storyboards, write the script, cast talent, film and edit. I couldn’t have done it without the amazing Janelle Ritchie who is my right-hand woman, my husband on boom mic and my son Ashton on acting coaching and script edits.

Client:

Liberty Missouri Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Project:

Create a video to help publize the upcoming Self-Reliance Fireside and subsequent groups.

Solution:

Interviewing a couple who’s son is heading off to college and a mission, I was inspired to create an attention-getting video that shows how kids grow up so fast.

Senior Missions

I had such a good time working on this little video spot. Another “soup to nuts” video for me, as I again was able to come up with the concept, draw storyboards, write the script, cast talent, film and edit. I couldn’t have done it without the amazing Janelle Ritchie who is my right-hand woman.

Client:

Liberty Missouri Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Project:

Create a video for the upcoming senior missionary fireside.

Solution:

We interviewed several senior missionaries and learned it was easier to serve a mission than most people think. That’s when we came up with the idea of a grandchild poking fun at his grandpa for not serving a mission.

Pres. Barnes Reads Favorite Book

This was a quick little project that reminded me of my days in TV news as we had just a few hours to turn this around. The concept for this video was already established, but it was fun helping his vision come alive through shooting and editing.

Client:

Liberty Missouri Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Project:

Create a video to help connect church members during the lock-down of COVID-19.

Solution:

Jeff shared his idea with me of reading a story, and to create visual interest, we added his daughter and niece and nephew to the video as well as came up with a game plan of how to shoot it and mic it effectively without showing the lav mic.

Alex Boyé - I will always return

Believe it or not this video was conceptualized and shot in a matter of days. I was asked to a creative meeting to help come up with an idea for a video for visiting artist Alex Boyé. I came prepared to the meeting with a few ideas, but the brainstorming session was nothing short of magic. A few hours later, I was creating storyboards and presenting them to the artist, and the next day we were out on the shoot. For this project, I served as creative director and director and editing consultant. This project helped me decide that I wanted (no, needed) to return to film.

Client:

Liberty Missouri Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Alex Boyé.

Project:

While Alex was in town performing, speaking, and throwing out the first pitch for the Kansas City Royals, the local church leadership wanted to create a music video with him at the church historical site Adam-ondi-Amen.

Solution:

Using a recently recorded cover, we captured the breath-taking Adam-ondi-Amen scenery as well as created a story line about a man returning to God and his family.

John Bytheway - Top 10 Ways to Minister in KC

Getting much of the same group together from the Alex Boyé video, we created a new video to feature our visiting guest, inspirational speaker and comedian John Bytheway. John was professional, talented and up for anything. More than that, he and his lovely wife, Kim, are just the best people. It was an honor to work with him. When we had some technical issues with one of the scenes, John even arranged a second shoot day when he happened to be passing by Kansas City again. Truly a class-act.

Project:

While John was in town performing, speaking, and throwing out the first pitch for the Kansas City Royals, the local church leadership wanted to create a humorous video with him around Kansas City.

Solution:

I, along with a talented team of Cindy McDavitt and Taylor McKay came up with an idea to showcase ministering (a new form of sheparding church members) in a humorous video. I helped conceptualize, storyboard, write the script, cast and even did a tiny bit of shooting when we had a technical issues with one scene. I was lucky enough to create the graphics and edit this piece as well. A special thanks to Hanson Sports for shooting the video.
